Your lack of self-esteem serves a purpose July 04, 2013 |
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, dear friends, There are endless possibilities for our self-esteem to shrink, so let me tell you when my self-esteem went down the drain: For example when - I failed my maths exam in school, because I hadn’t done anything to prepare for it, or - I thought that another girl on my basketball team was a better player than I was, or - my marriage ended, or - my mum did not give me the support I needed, or - I couldn’t overcome a performance blockage, (and I could go on and on here) I thought I was not good enough. The consequences of this thinking were partly dramatic: Instead of becoming the best basketball player ever, I gave up. I walked away, never returning, never giving it another try to avoid the risk of failing again, even though I didn’t fail objectively. If I think about all the missed opportunities to become better! Oh my! What if the belief of not being good enough is a lie? A big fat lie? Lack of self-esteem, the feeling of not being welcome, or the feeling that something is wrong with you or that you are not important, is in my view something that you have learned at a certain age and that you believed to be true. You would never say to a newborn: “You do not deserve anything, you are worthless, you are not good enough.” So when it is only a belief that you have brought into yourself, you could also let the belief go and learn something new about yourself, right? Now you are possibly thinking: ‘If this was so easy Anja, I would have done it ages ago.’ Why isn’t it easy? Because the big fat lie serves a purpose! If you can identify the purpose, it is easy to let the lie go. - Do you want to know what purpose your lack of self-esteem is serving? - Do you want to grab your chances and become better instead of running away and avoiding? - Do you want to feel that you are good enough no matter what? Then I invite you to the next Tapping into an easy life evening on 9th July on the topic: 'Stop the lack of self-esteem and start feeling good enough' While I tap with volunteers, you’ll have the possibility to tap along and release at the same time everything that is holding you back from feeling good enough.
